Paul Simon, né Paul Frederic Simon le 13 octobre 1941 à Newark, New Jersey, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète et musicien américain de renommée mondiale. Initialement célèbre pour son duo folk-rock Simon & Garfunkel, il a ensuite mené une carrière solo saluée par la critique, explorant notamment la world music et la pop. Son album Graceland (1986) est un jalon de cette fusion de genres.

• Il forme le duo Tom and Jerry avec Art Garfunkel à la fin des années 1950, qui deviendra Simon & Garfunkel.
• Le duo connaît un succès immense dans les années 1960 avec des tubes comme The Sound of Silence et Bridge over Troubled Water.
• Sa carrière solo, lancée dans les années 1970, l'amène à intégrer des rythmes et des instruments d'Afrique, d'Amérique latine et de reggae.
